Humans of Yale
Inspired by Humans of New York, Humans of Yale is a project working to facilitate conversations among students across different parts of campus to understand each senior’s story:
- IWhere they came from
- IIWhat they have taken away from their time at Yale
- IIIWhat they understand to be a meaningful life
We hope to expand the work of two alumni, Hiroko Kawase and Ben Hernandez, by interviewing every willing senior and weaving our stories into a mosaic, presented to our class in the spring of 2027. Our goal is to publish a yearbook-style book with each senior’s profile featuring a photo of them in the space on campus that most represents them and excerpts from their interview that captures a meaningful part of their story.
We believe that the most valuable thing we take away from our time at Yale is not our degree but an understanding of the people we shared it with.
Interviewees have full discretion over what is shared in their excerpt, as this is an opportunity for seniors to share their stories. The book and stories are shared only with graduating seniors, but individual seniors are able to share their own stories through other avenues if they choose to.
